A primary goal at Pymble is to prepare and assist girls for their future study options and career. A dedicated Tertiary Office ensures Pymble students are well prepared when making decisions on their chosen career pathway.
Tertiary Office
A popular destination for our Senior School students, the Tertiary Office provides students with up-to-date information on degree choices, interstate and international opportunities, scholarships, cadetships and a wide range of other options available to graduates.
In Year 12, students have a mandatory appointment with the Tertiary Advisor, with all students strongly encouraged to schedule repeat appointments as necessary. The office also offers a lunch time Guest Presenter Program, which provides students with regular access to insightful individuals from a wide range of tertiary interests.
In Year 10, students have the opportunity to participate in a careers profiling session conducted by Career Avenues. The session identifies student aptitudes and interests and is followed by a one-on-one consultative interview. Upper School events such as the Year 10 Subject Choice Evening and Camp at School (featuring sessions on resume writing, cover letters and work skills) provide our younger students with guidance ahead of their final years at the College.
Students interested in studying overseas can take advantage of the office’s expert advice and application support, with the recently introduced US College Night an annual feature on the Pymble calendar.
To support these initiatives and keep students informed about unfolding tertiary events, students and their families receive weekly updates via the College eNewsletter.
Pymble Careers Expo
A major annual College event, the Pymble Careers Expo offers our Years 10 to 12 students a unique opportunity to get the latest information and advice as they prepare for their future. Over 60 universities, colleges, businesses and professional organisations are represented at the Expo. These range from the large Sydney universities to regional, interstate and overseas organisations.
Beyond the main exhibition, the Professional Break-Out Area is a comfortable space where students can meet and talk informally with volunteer professionals (mostly parents, ex-students and local business practitioners) working in a broad range of career fields, especially those most sought-after by Pymble girls.
