Ellyse Perry inspires new generation of athletes
Wednesday 4 May, 2016
Dual international athlete and former Pymble girl, Ellyse Perry returned to the College this week to spend time with students in our Elite Sportswomen’s Program. Thirty girls enjoyed a two-hour session with Ellyse, which included a circuit session in the new Centenary Sports Precinct fitness centre and a demonstration of the innovative new Baseline software our coaches use with our athletes.
The new software allows coaches to track wellness factors as well as on-field performance and training for each girl, giving a holistic overview of her health at any one time. This enables the coaches and staff to design balanced training programs that minimise the risk of injury and maximise performance for each individual athlete.
Ellyse, who has represented Australia in cricket and soccer also spent one-on-one time with Year 7 student, Shivani Mehta. Just like her idol, Shivani plays cricket and soccer, as well as touch football, and used her one-on-one time with Ellyse to discuss the logistics of pursuing multiple sports at a high level – as sign, perhaps, of this up-and-coming young athlete’s intention.
