Year 11 Geography Excursion
Tuesday 10 March, 2020
On Friday 28 February, our Year 11 Geography students visited Bantry Bay to investigate biophysical interactions and human impacts on the functioning of the biophysical environment.
While at Bantry Bay, students investigated two creeks, testing the water quality for phosphates, pH levels, turbidity and conductivity, as well as searching for exotic plants that have been introduced to the area. By comparing two creeks, the students were able to see the consequences of human development on the quality of the waterways at Bantry Bay.
Students also had the opportunity to visit a gross pollutant trap to gain an understanding of the methods that can be used to effectively manage the environment.
