Pymble music students impressed audiences across Europe, when 44 students in the Pymble Chorale and Chamber String Orchestra received standing ovations and encores for all of their ten performances during the Music Tour 2013 in June and July which included concerts in Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Leipzig, Dresden, Rothenberg and Wurzburg.
Touring for 20 days, we immersed ourselves in the cultural and historical sites of these picturesque regions, including Salzburg where the hills are still alive with the Sound of Music, the beautiful Neuschwanstein Castle, the chilling Church of Our Lady in a war-scarred Dresden, and the inspirational Haus der Musik in Vienna.
The tour provided the opportunity for students to become more accomplished and flexible performers, requiring them to rehearse in confined and difficult spaces and perform in challenging venues. We can certainly swell with pride knowing that we represented ourselves, Pymble and Australia in ten very successful concerts and
returned to Sydney as a close-knit group, every one of us thankful for the opportunity that we had been given.
