Service Learning
Monday 22 June, 2020
Service Learning is a vital component of the Upper School, providing students with the opportunity to give back to the community.
During Week 8 Term 2, five Year 9 students had the opportunity to participate and Safia Arslan and Maira Waqar share their experience here:
“On Monday we went to an Easy Care Gardening client’s house to help the client with maintaining his large garden. Jennifer from Easy Care Gardening accompanied us and worked with us in the morning. She taught us about plant varieties and plant names and helped with the gardening. It was a very fun day gardening with friends and knowing that we were helping someone in need was very rewarding. Being able to help someone in need is and will always be important to me, as is making a person happy because of our actions. I hope that the client loved the small differences made to his garden as much as we did and we hope that he gets well. I would definitely like to participate again and recommend it to other Year 9 students.” – Safia Arslan and Maira Waqar (Year 9)
Year 10 is currently participating in the Wrap With Love knitting initiative. It is amazing to hear that Year 10 is contributing to an organisation that delivers knitted goods to more than 30,000 people across the world every year.
