Pymble’s Film Program rolls on
Tuesday 26 November, 2013
2013 has been another very successful year for Pymble’s ever-strengthening Media program. With Billboard, Pymble’s annual film festival, having now completed its second year, it is worth taking stock of how Pymble’s film students have fared in both domestic and international competitions throughout the past twelve months.
International acclaim came to Pymble when Hannah Palfreyman and Stephanie Stuart were recognised as Finalists in the International Sarasota Film Festival in the United States for their short film, The Aviary (Billboard 2012 – Best Film). The film received further honours as a Finalist at the Robin Anderson Film Awards, winning the Best Set Production Award, whilst also taking out Third Place at the Woolich Film Festival where Seetha Tan’s Wanderlust was also nominated as a Finalist.
Elsewhere, as part of the Bayside Film Festival, Annabel Hennesey’s The Snow Queen was screened as a competition Finalist. More recently however, Savannah Lamble’s Gloss and Marnie Drakes and Seetha Tan’s Red Thread were both Finalists in the Youth section of the highly-rated JMC Academy Film Festival, with Savannah’s film winning the category overall – an amazing achievement which again underlines the on-going strength of Pymble’s Media program.
