Perfect mathematics score for Pymble student

Wednesday 9 December, 2015

Year 7 student Akina Li is the only female across the globe to obtain a perfect score in the 2015 Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), one of the world’s largest mathematics competitions.

Akina is one of 13 Australian medallists to achieve this and is only the fifth girl in Australia to achieve a perfect score in the 38 year history of the competition. She was presented with her medal by Her Excellency, the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AO, Governor of Western Australia at a special ceremony held at Government House Perth in early November.

The Mathematics Department at Pymble is committed to providing students with the opportunity to enjoy and excel in Mathematics. Teaching and learning strategies at Pymble encourage students to work in groups, think creatively and apply different strategies to solve a problem. Students actively participate in Mathematics Modelling competitions and participate in hands-on, problem-solving activities in classes.
