AHIGS Festival of Speech
Friday 6 November, 2020
The AHIGS Online Festival of Speech was held on Saturday 24 October. Pymble had all six of our pre-recorded entrants’ pieces selected for the finals. Well done to Tilly Morgan (Junior Poetry), Tara Narayan (Senior Poetry), Alyssa Yee (Junior Readings), Amy Jarvis (Senior Readings), Joy Ye (Junior Public Speaking) and Chloe Hoang (Senior Public Speaking).
From these finalists we had three first placegetters. Congratulations to Chloe, Alyssa and Joy on your wonderful achievement and well done to all who represented Pymble in the individual sections.
Thanks also to our Current Affairs team: Meera Barani, Annabel Maple-Brown and Claire Kim and Religious and Ethical Questions team: Esther Choi, Alison Cook and Faye Chang and coaches.
While the weather was gloomy and the online Festival was certainly different, we were cheered on by the hot pink Festival showbags and catering provided by our kitchen. Thanks to all staff, students and mums, who worked behind the scenes to make it a memorable day. A special thank you to those who donated items for our showbags.
Pymble came first in the Junior division and second overall, from a field of 25 independent girls’ schools. Congratulations on this fine achievement. For the past three years Pymble has taken out either first or second place in the Festival of Speech. Hopefully we can host this festival in 2021 and showcase our spacious school, beautiful grounds and significant talent in the field of Language Arts. #PymbleProud.
