Pymble celebrates Book Week

Friday 22 August, 2014

This week at Pymble students from Kindergarten to Year 12 celebrated Book Week and embraced the virtues of reading.

With the theme of the 2014 Book Week, ‘Connect to Reading’ students have enjoyed the experience of exploring the story and travelling to other ‘worlds’ through a series of activities, workshops and presentations by guest authors.

On Thursday, Preparatory School students dressed up as their favourite characters for their Book Week Parade, much to the delight of staff and parents. Whilst earlier in the week, Secondary School staff dressed up as a book character and the whole of Secondary School was enthralled with author Will Kostakis’s account of being a published author.

The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) introduced Book Week when it was first established in 1945. The Council, a not for profit, volunteer run organisation, aims to engage the community with literature for young Australians and presents annual awards based on literary merit to Australian children’s books.
