Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation
MONDAY 3 FEBRUARY TO WEDNESDAY 5 FEBRUARY 2020
Each year Pymble Ladies’ College aims to provide every girl with a range of experiences that will challenge them and enhance their academic, physical, social and emotional development. These experiences are developed through the academic courses, co-curricular activities including sport, performing arts and community service, and the Wellbeing program. The Year 11 Leadership and Learning Camp is designed to assist the girls in further developing the skills they will need for their final two years at school. Attendance at the camp is a compulsory component of the Year 11 program.
The Year 11 Leadership and Learning Camp is a three day residential camp to be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, Wakehurst Parkway, North Narrabeen from Monday 3 February until Wednesday 5 February. The Camp will focus on developing your daughter’s academic and personal potential. Key areas will focus on fostering connections across the year group and with Senior School staff, academic motivation and goal setting, leadership and responsibility, and maintaining a healthy balance. The students will be involved in a diverse range of activities including presentations and skill and team building activities.
More Information about the Year 11 Leadership and Learning Camp
There are many changes involved in moving from Year 10 into Year 11. These final years of school mark the transition between the years of formal schooling and entry into the workforce and/or tertiary study. During this time, we will be assisting the girls in setting goals, building and developing the skills to effectively manage their learning, and to balance the demands of the various aspects of their lives. It is an exciting time of growth, challenge and reward for the students. It also brings with it a need for greater self-discipline, self-knowledge and responsible, independent decision-making.
Academically, many of the subjects in Years 11 and 12 are more conceptual and have an increased focus on individual research and thus a greater time commitment. Students assume a greater level of responsibility for setting their own goals and planning, balancing and organising their work. The activities and seminars the students will attend during camp are aimed at providing a solid foundation for them ahead of these changes.
Departure:
Camp will begin on Monday 3 February. Departure will be at 8.00am from Kelso Car Park. All students will need to be at Kelso Pavilion from 7.45am for roll call.
Return:
The students will return from camp at approximately 4.00pm on Wednesday 5 February and can be picked up from Kelso Car Park.
Cost:
The cost of this camp will be fully funded by the College.
