Thursday 27 June, 2013

The Hub, Pymble’s new service and learning space, was officially opened by the Principal, Mrs Vicki Waters on Wednesday 24 July.

The Hub is a transformational IT space focused on the technology needs of students and staff. The space has a sense of ‘wow’ that encourages students to come in not only for help and support but to play, investigate and learn. Each of the key areas in The Hub is designed with highly specific functions.

The service desk provides the students and staff with an inviting area where they are quickly and effectively served by the IT team. There are a number of waiting tables for peak periods, which provide hands on opportunities with the latest devices available on the market providing an opportunity for students to form opinions and provide feedback on the future of technology at the College.

The IT work area provides the best possible environment to support the day to day operation of technology and state of the art facilities for the servicing and imaging of laptops, improving processes and repair times.

The Hub also provides lounge areas where staff and students can sit down and explore the technology. Teacher technology experts are available to mentor students and guide them in the effective and innovative uses of technology. It is a place to ignite informal conversations about learning opportunities.

‘The Think Tank’, a feature of The Hub, is a purpose built room which is rich in technologies to encourage collaborative thinking, ideas and innovation. Writable walls, interactive projectors and flexible furniture make this a fun learning space designed to encourage big picture thinking.
