In Week 6 of Term 2, the Junior School celebrated a week of French focus. Throughout the week, all Junior School staff and girls thought about and shared French connections in their lives beyond the weekly French lesson. Thank you to Ruhani Surana, Year 6 and Saskia Nicholson, Year 5, who led our celebration of birthdays this week with their beautiful rendition of joyeux anniversaire in our Junior School Assembly. Other activities included enjoying French music, adorning walls with photos of family trips to Paris, and making daily connections with the French language and culture inherent in their lives.

Year 3 had fun with a Madeline story and dress-ups with some girls taking the challenge to showcase their creativity and engineering by constructing their own versions of the Eiffel Tower. Year 4 danced their way through the week with virtual ballet classes, and clearly had a lot of fun as Annabella Bayfield explains:

Salut Madame Hanson

Today in French we had a really fun online Ballet lesson. I enjoyed it very much because I got to learn about ballet and do something I personally love. French Week is a great way to experience French and France. Merci!

Year 5 focused on Notre Dame and made incredible art based on Notre Dame’s stunning glass windows, while Year 6 made Matisse inspired paper art.

French Focus Week brought Gallic charm, fun and awareness to our Franco-Australian connections.
