Religion and Ethics

Religious Education at Pymble Ladies' College

As a school of the Uniting Church in Australia, Pymble Ladies’ College provides for the religion  and ethics education of its students. It does this through a study of Christianity focusing on the person Jesus Christ, the importance of the Bible and God’s message of love and reconciliation. In line with the inclusive nature of the Uniting Church and its commitment to interfaith dialogue, Religion and Ethics also provides for the study and comparison of other faith traditions and philosophies.

Lessons place great importance on student-led discussions, providing them with the intellectual freedom to pursue ideas, debate and think critically about contemporary moral, spiritual and cultural issues, aiming to:

  • develop an understanding of the variety and complexity of religious and philosophical issues studied
  • examine the impact of beliefs in the world
  • reflect upon and evaluate their own beliefs, as well as the beliefs of others
  • develop tolerance, respect, understanding and compassion towards others.
